Memorial Day Poppy Contest

To help celebrate Memorial Day our Auxiliary is sponsoring a “Poppy” contest.  We have asked the Mayor, and he has agreed, to read a proclamation at the town council meeting declaring Memorial Day to be Poppy Day!  We will have a 3 level contest with winners to be determined by $0.25 votes with the money going to the poppy fund which benefits disables and hospitalized veterans.

The three levels of entry will be:

  • Preschool – Coloring Contest
  • K-2nd grade – Poppy Drawing Contest
  • 3rd-5th – Poppy Drawing Contest

Entries should be turned into the legion by Monday May 19th and the winners will be determined on Memorial Day.  Voting will be conducted the week of May 21-26th.  There will be a prize given to the winner in each category.  We have provided links to download the preschool coloring contest picture below.  Please encourage your children or grandchildren in these age categories to enter the contest.  We hope to fill the post with beautiful pictures and drawings and to help bring back what Memorial Day is all about!  If you have any questions about the contest please feel free to contact me.

You can download the coloring sheet for the preschool coloring contest here:  Download the “Remember Poster USA”.  You can also download the “In Flanders Fields” Poem to inspire the K-2 and 3-5 grades drawing contest.

We look forward to your participation.  Good luck!
